You know it’s a new world when an etiquette book on cannabis is hot off the presses. Lizzie Post, Emily Post’s great, great granddaughter, is the author of Higher Etiquette: A Guide to the World of Cannabis, from Dispensaries to Dinner Parties. The book’s mission is to address how to be a thoughtful, respectful and responsible consumer of pot – or observer, as the case may be. As Emily Post said, “Whenever two people come together and their behavior affects one another, you have etiquette”. Good point. $16.99
Did you ever get ‘buried’ in beach sand when you were a kid? It turns out that instinct was a good one. Psammotherapy is an ancient therapeutic practice to use hot sand to relax muscles and relieve tension. Spas all over the world are offering psammotherapy as part of their treatments. It might be helpful to manage some chronic rheumatic and respiratory diseases. Look for it the next time you are indulging in a spa treatment.
Scholastic’s new site – The Stacks – is a kid-friendly book site. Kids can post book reviews, get book recommendations, play games, watch “Meet the Author” videos and join reading discussion groups with kids their own age. Teachers can access the site to get kids involved with an online educational site that’s an alternative to Facebook.
ASE subscriber (and famous night-owl) Frannie B. recommends this Glow Light. She reads by it when she goes to bed. It does not keep her husband awake. It gives off a warm light which is relaxing, and it dims gradually which signals that it is time to sleep – think sundown. You can set it to wake you up with warm light. I love a good ‘gadget’ so I appreciate that instead of buttons and switches, you can control the Glow Light by twisting it a little in either direction.
You set your preferred routines with an app.
Charging is easy – just rest it on its stand.
The Glow Light by Casper. $129 for one, $229 for a pair.
