Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

Did you know that anyone can pull up an image of your home on Google Maps?  Try it yourself by typing Google Maps into your search bar, then putting in your address, zooming in and clicking on the image of your home. Your other option is to drag the little orange man in the lower right corner of your screen to your house. There will be a date that each photo was taken, and you can click around the image to get different perspectives. Google periodically updates their images.

If this makes you uncomfortable, you can permanently blur all images of your home – an action that cannot be undone. Here are the steps:

  • Click on Report a Problem at the bottom right of the screen in very tiny letters
  • Fill out the form that appears and identify the address you’d like to blur
  • Note that you are submitting the request due to privacy concerns

Fortunately, I discovered Uppercase magazine when it was first published in 2009.  I am a dabbler in crafts, particularly textiles, and I love reading about other forms of art and crafts. Uppercase is a paper-based magazine from Canada, full of all the many forms of arts and crafts and the people who practice and create them.  It is beautifully designed and illustrated and on high quality stock paper.   It is a magazine full of resources and inspiration, with no advertising.  It is, in itself, a work of art. It comes out quarterly, and an annual subscription is $80.00.

My daughter has a new dog who loves to dig. She relies on this plunge pot to clean his paws before Finn tracks mud inside. She puts water into this MudBuster and inserts one paw at a time, then twists the container – and the soft, gentle silicone bristles massage the paw and loosen the mud. She dabs Finn’s clean paws dry, rinses the MudBuster and puts it back by the door. Carpets and wood floors stay clean.  Dexas MudBuster Portable Dog Paw Washer/ Paw Cleaner.  Small $16.99, medium $23.82, large $10.99

This PawPlunger is similar.  The medium is $19.95 and the large is $26.95.

New York Magazine recently researched the best overall moisturizer for dry skin and Cetaphil was the pick of the surveyed dermatologists.  It was praised for being a great cream for both the body and the face.  It is highly effective for treating dry skin, it is lightweight and can be used daily throughout the year.  $14.27 for 20 oz.
