Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

I received a restaurant confirmation yesterday from Open Table.  The problem was that it was not my reservation.  The restaurant was in Ontario, I was in Florida.  My first reaction was to be concerned for whoever had made the reservation, so I dutifully emailed Open Table saying that they had the wrong person.  I didn’t want to cancel the reservation and ruin someone’s evening in Ontario.  I received back a very bizarre bright red email that I could barely read and that is when I realized it was a scam.  Later in the day I received an alert from Google that my email had been hacked.  I recently heard a quick and easy mantra to avoid text and mobile phone scams:

Don’t know?

Don’t reply.

Don’t answer.

Don’t Click.

In my Open Table case, I knew I didn’t have an Open Table reservation for that night; therefore, I should have deleted the text.

I hate fighting with my aluminum foil box.   I can never figure out how to cut the size foil I need without making a mess of it or my fingers.  This MYFYU cling wrap dispenser has a built-in cutter and can also be magnetically mounted on any metal surface like a refrigerator.  It can be used for 12” rolls of wax or parchment paper or aluminum foil if you have eschewed the use of cling wrap for environmental reasons.   $15.99.

I heard a rave review on a podcast yesterday about the Smitten Kitchen’s latest cookbook called Keepers. If you don’t know about Smitten Kitchen’s Instagram account and you like food and cooking, you must check it out.  The photographs are mouth-watering, and I love most of the recipes.  I looked through this new cookbook, and it is fantastic. Who could resist “Leek and Brie Galette”, or “Weeknight Lemon Chicken Wings”?  It reminds me of the old Silver Palate Cookbook, one of my favorites.  $23.80.

A recent magazine survey of tweezers selected a Tweezerman three-piece micro mini set as the best overall tweezer buy.  The case has pointy, angled, and flat tipped tweezers.  $25.00.

Did you know that slant tweezers are for stray hairs and pointy tweezers are for fine hairs, ingrown and splinters?
