Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

The Quiddler Game is one of Set Enterprises many games and one of their very best.  We played it non-stop over the July 4th weekend and had lots of fun.  It is based on the gin rummy rule set, but instead of putting together runs of number playing cards, Quiddler has you put together short words from their alphabet playing cards. The winner at the end of a round of eight games is the one with the most points.  It involves strategy and quick thinking.  Up to eight players can play at one time, and there is even a solitaire version. Best for Ages 8 and up.  $12.99

Last week I wrote about a great book by John Green called The Anthropocene Reviewed, and I mentioned that I had listened to an audio version.  We have written about the Libby App in an earlier article, but I was reminded what a fantastic app it is and thought I would review it again in case you, like me, have forgotten all about it.  Libby gives you access to your hometown library so you can borrow free ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines with your library card.  It is available to both iOS and Android devices.

Download or open the Libby app on your device

Follow Libby’s prompts to find your library and sign in with a library card

Browse your library’s catalog and borrow a title

Your selection will vary based on your library since each library chooses what titles and formats to offer in Libby

Borrowed titles appear on your “Shelf” and download to the app automatically when you’re connected to Wi-Fi so you can read them when you’re offline

On your Shelf:

Tap Read With to choose where you’d like to read the book (Kindle or Libby)

Tap Open in Libby, Open Magazine, or Open Audiobook to start reading or listening in the app.

Tap Manage Loan to see options like Renew or Return.

Snooze icon

Do you know how to SNOOZE an email in your Gmail?  When you Snooze an email, you postpone dealing with it until a future time that you determine.  When that time comes, it will come back to the top of your inbox.  It is a way of organizing your emails and not losing track of ones that are important but not right now.

Go to your Gmail

Point to the email you wish to Snooze

Click on the Snooze icon to the right

Choose a later date and time you want the email returned to your inbox

You can Snooze as many emails as you want

It’s that time of year when many of us are traveling and want to source local produce.  The USDA has a local food directory for every state. You can find local CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture), Farmers Markets, Food Hubs, and On-Farm Markets near you.  It will also tell you about Agritourism (a farm or ranch open for recreation and tourism) near you.
