Meal Train, based in Burlington, Vermont. is a free website that helps friends and family coordinate meal delivery to loved ones when they experience significant life events and challenges.
Providing meals lets meal recipients know that their friends and family care, and it relieves them of the burdens of cooking and grocery shopping. In most circumstances, so many people want to help that it requires lots of time and organization. The process can get difficult. Having been involved in meal organization myself, I think this will be an extremely helpful tool for everyone.
The Swedish brand Aarke makes carbonators that are getting great reviews. They are more expensive than other brands but there are differences I find appealing. One is that they are very sleek to look at. Many people leave them on their counter tops because they like their design. The Carbonator Aarke III, pictured above, also come in a choice of finishes – matte black, brass, sand, stainless steel, matte white, matte grey, copper, and gold. The machine is easy to wipe down to clean. $229.00.
The refill pack of CO2 cylinders is $59.95.
According to a 2021 survey, almost 60% of Americans go online to get answer to medical questions. Doing health research online can give you lots of misinformation unless you go to reliable, credible sites instead of a search engine. Credible sites are nationally known health systems or organizations.
These medical sites provide a health information page where you can search from A to Z for your particular concern.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- National Institutes of Health
- American Academy of Family Physicians
- Mayo Clinic
- National Institute on Aging
Most health websites either sponsored by a federal agency (which will end in .gov) or well-known medical schools (which will end in .edu) will provide up to date, credible information. You should still be cautious. Make sure that is a specific study is cited and that the author, date, and link to the study are provided.
Even after researching, it’s dangerous to self-diagnose. Send a photo of the problem, or a descriptive email to your doctor’s portal (to keep your information safe) and let them do the diagnosing.
