My mother, the early environmentalist, used cloth napkins when I was growing up so we would reuse them until they needed washing, instead of using disposable paper products. She also used napkin rings, with a different pattern for each of us so we knew which was our napkin. I received a couple of fun napkin ring sets when I got married and I use them to this day. I think of them as jewelry for the table.
