I love melamine plates in the summer.  You can take them anywhere without worrying about breakage or weight, they are easy to wash and they are so decorative.  Here are some favorites.

I have long been a fan of the British potter Emma Bridgewater.  I love both her polka dot and star patterns.  I was delighted to discover that she makes picnic plates in both patterns.  This picnic plate is 10” in diameter.  It can be put in the dishwasher on the top shelf.  It is not good for the microwave.  They are $34.99 each.Emma Bridgewater Polka Dot Melamine

If you are taking kids on a picnic, how adorable is Joanne Hudson Dancing Mice picnic dinner plate? I’d consider using it even if there were no kids on the picnic. They are $13.95 each.
