Sometimes rugs look better on the wall than on the floor.

Rugs and runners are becoming works of art in their own right. I love color, and a decorator once told me that when decorating any room, start with the rug first and go from there.  There are many appealing rugs, and a new trend is to hang them as art instead of walking on them.

This is a hand hooked botanical area rug.  It is hooked with 100% polyester yarn made from recycled soda bottles.  It is soft and plush underfoot and feels like wool.  It is durable, but a non-skid rug pad is recommended.  A 5’ x 8’ size is $169.99.

This is the Faceted Tile Rug, and it comes in five sizes.  It is 60% recycled polyester and 40% polyester.  The rug thickness is 0.7”.  It is hand tufted and shed resistant. It has a recycled cotton backing.  A rug pad is recommended. There will be a shedding of loose fibers in the beginning that will diminish over time. A 5’ x 8’ is $399.00.

 

Unikko (Finnish word for poppy) 60th anniversary area rug – from the Finnish brand Marimekko.  The motif is ‘boisterously graphic’ it’s a hand tufted indoor/outdoor rug with the brand’s iconic poppy motif. It comes in three sizes. The middle size is 5’3” x 7’6” and $446.00.

 

This green and off-white rug that is indoor/outdoor and washable.  It is extra-durable, can be exposed to the elements and is great for high-traffic areas.  It would be great hung on a porch or outdoor dining area wall.  It comes in five seasons.  A 5’ x 7’ is $229.00.

I’m crazy about this rug!  So cheery and vibrant.
