Relive favorite memories every day!
I have been hearing about the Timehop app from all kinds of sources. Most people are sentimental. Being reminded of the birth of a child, a marriage, a birthday party or a graduation usually makes us smile from nostalgia. We rarely browse though our photo collections or albums unless we are searching for a specific photo. Timehop keeps memories fresh and reminds us of those we love and those who have shared our special moments.
The Timehop app originally was called 4SquareAnd7YearsAgo. It launched in 2012 and in 2015 it had over 6 million daily users. By 2016 it had grown to 12 million users. It is a free app available for both Android and iOS devices. Timehop’s app delivers nostalgic ‘blasts from the past’. Users connect it to their social media accounts – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, and to their camera rolls. The app pulls up photos, posts and updates to refresh your memory of what you were doing on that date one, two, three or more years ago.
Every morning users wake up to a new Timehop special moment. I’m sure it’s always a shock to realize that special events were one, two or more years ago – but it’s lovely to relive the moment. The app shows you what you were doing on each day for as many years as there is data available. The information is presented by an adorable cartoon dinosaur. It also serves as a reminder of events important to your friends and family. You’ll be a hero for remembering someone’s birthday party in 2008!
In 2015 Facebook registered how wildly popular Timehop was and launched their own copycat app called On This Day. It is essentially the same in that it goes back in time to find whatever you were doing on every date as far back as there are digital records.
