Gourmet Makes is a series by Bon Appetit where pastry chef and Bon Appetit food editor Claire Saffritz attempts to recreate gourmet versions of popular junk foods. She recreates Snickers bars, Doritos, Sour Patch Kids, PopRocks, Pringles, Twizzlers, Starbursts, Twinkies and my very favorite, Girl Scout cookies and much more. The series debuted in 2017 but did not gain traction until this year. Season One has 39 episodes and I can’t wait to view them all.
Creativebug is a website that provides unlimited access to thousands of online art and craft classes. There are three levels of subscription, and you can get acquainted with a free trial. There are classes in art & design, sewing, quilting, paper, knitting, crochet, food & home, jewelry, holiday & party and kids.
This is an unusual website of words that do not translate. It is called Eunoia and has 500+ untranslatable words from 70+ languages. Eunoia itself is an untranslatable word that means beautiful thinking. This site allows you to search for untranslatable words by language, tag or the word itself.
Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Spectrum, of the Seas, left Sydney on Saturday, March 7th on its first complimentary four day coastal cruise for the brave people who were first responders in Australia’s bushfires. The cruise industry has been hit hard by the Coronavirus and this seems like a wonderful way to salvage some joy with these ‘thank you’ cruises. About 7,000 of the first responders and their families will be able to enjoy a free cruise. We want to give credit to Royal Caribbean for recognizing the true selflessness of first responders.
