Appointment TV:

I have to quickly get this series in here before summer fades away because it’s NOT serious TV.  It’s the equivalent of a beach read and it’s my guilty pleasure! The Bold Type on Freeform premiered a little over a year ago, in June 2017. It is about three best friends, recent college graduates, and they navigate their way through their first jobs at a fashion magazine. Start with Season 1 and if you binge watch it you will catch up to this season’s episodes which show on Tuesdays at 8 PM. Don’t judge me.

This might not be for everyone Future Me lets you send a letter to yourself in the future. Compose the letter today – it could be to remind you of a special event, or setting goals for yourself in the future. Postdate it in the future and Future Me will send it to you, or anyone you’d like on that date.

I saw the Fred Rogers documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor, last month and loved it. It was not what I expected. I never watched Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and always thought it was nerdy. This film completely changed my opinion. Fred Rogers was an interesting, thoughtful and talented man. He was a Presbyterian minister and his goal was to change the way television was addressing children. He used his show to advocate the causes important to him in the most delightful, non-aggressive ways possible. It is well worth seeing.

Have you been to a Primark store yet? Me neither, but I want to check it out. It is a low-cost European department store chain and it is currently the fastest growing retail store in the U.S. according to the National Retail Federation Stores magazine. Primark has opened nine stores in the U.S. since 2015 and last year its U.S. sales grew by 103%! Morgan Stanley did a study in 2016 that showed the prices at Primark were, on average, 202% lower than U.S. clothing prices. Primark originates in Dublin where it is called Pennys. The first U.S. store opened in Boston and the chain is continuing to expand along the East Coast. I’m thinking it might be like an H & M but hoping it’s more like a Uniqlo which is great for basics like white t shirts and puff jackets. Primark carries clothes and shoes for men, women and children, cosmetics, and bedroom, bathroom and kitchen items.
