I have a daughter and two very close friends who routinely ‘take a tub’. I take a bath once in a while, especially if I’m staying somewhere that has a glorious bathtub. The aforementioned folks take baths daily. It’s part of their routine and they would never give it up.
A few famous bath takers are Winston Churchill, who took at least two baths a day, Donna Karan, Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld. Jennifer Love Hewitt likes a really sudsy bubble bath.
Jean-Paul Marat, a radical journalist and politician during the French Revolution, was famously murdered in his tub, but don’t let that dissuade you!
Benefits of taking baths:
Soaking in a relaxing bath before bedtime in low light or candlelight can help you fall asleep.
A warm bath can rehydrate dry, itchy skin. Apply body lotion as soon as you get out of the bath. You might even look younger!
A very hot bath can be invigorating and can improve mental alertness.
A relaxing soak in the tub with some good smelling bath oils can relieve stress and anxiety.
A long soak in a warm bath can relax tight and sore muscles.
If you add some eucalyptus drops to a hot bath when you have a cold or the flu, it can help relieve congestion.
Soaking in a warm bath is great ‘alone’ time.

Subscriber Gail H. highly recommends Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath to soothe muscle pain. It has been used in England for 35 years – a bath loving country if there ever was one! Mustard bath is traditionally known for its stimulating, cleansing and rejuvenating qualities. It helps in opening the pores of your skin to sweat out impurities. The ingredients sound soothing: sodium carbonate, certified organic powdered mustard seed, essential oils of wintergreen, eucalyptus, rosemary and thyme and powdered gum benzoin. Drinking a large glass of water while you soak is a good idea. 8 oz. for $9.90.
