Don’t waste those great photos– get them into an album or video frame.

After Ginny’s article on quality photo albums and the mobile phone photo project tips on our home page, and Susie’s article on the same topic, friends sent me two more project ideas that sound great. I have tried both and love them. Mobile phone, Instagram and Facebook photos directly to your living room!

Chatbooks began when Vanessa Quigley became frustrated by time-consuming photo projects when she was raising her children (seven of them). She wanted to record her children’s day-to-day lives partly because her children loved looking at them. The result was a streamlined photo printing service.

How it works:

There are two basic options – have books auto-sent or create individual custom books. It’s a very easy process.

The Photo Book Series:

Chatbooks takes the photos you have uploaded or tagged from Facebook, Instagram, or your phone and automatically adds them to a 6″ x 6″ photo book. When they receive 60 photos they send a draft of the book through by email. You have three days to edit the book before it is printed. You can add captions, rearrange photos and include the date the photos were taken. Every time you upload 60 photos another book will be produced and sent. The binding has the date range and volume number. I loved the size of the book, the paper and the printing.

Each book is 60 pages, 6” x 6” and $10 for a softcover or $15 for hardcover.

Chatbooks Custom Books:

Order a 6” x 6” or 8” x 8” custom photo book with up to 366 pages. The photos are automatically arranged in chronological order, with one photo per page. You can add or edit captions, move the photos around and choose your cover. They are printed on archival paper with premium quality inks and a durable binding. The smaller book starts at $15.00 and the larger starts at $25.00.

Nixplay’s digital picture frame keeps families and close friends in touch and up to date. It was developed by a family in Hong Kong that wanted to share their photos with friends and family scattered around the globe. The best-seller is the Nixplay Iris, a WiFi Cloud frame.

How it works:

The photos can be managed through an app or the web and stored on the cloud. Nixplay gives you 10GB of cloud storage to use which is enough to store thousands of photos. You can send new photos whenever you like. Use the app to caption your photos and send them wirelessly to your friends and family’s Nixplays. Up to ten photos can be loaded at a time.

The screen is 8” and turns on automatically when someone enters a room and turns off after everyone has left. There is a smart dimmer adjusts the screen’s brightness to the room’s lighting. Alexa can also control Nixplay for you.

Choose from three frame finishes – Peach Copper, Silver and Burnished Bronze. The frame and app is $199.00. There is currently a 10% off offer. The apps are free.
