Style and protection under a hot dish

A trivet is a small object placed between a hot serving dish and a dining table to protect the table from the heat of the dish.  They can be purely functional but it’s much more fun to find attractive, clever and/or unusual ones.  Here are some we’ve found.

If storage space is an issue in your kitchen, this stretch silicone pot stand unfolds to be 21.5” long x 8” tall.  It folds up to 8” x 2”w.  It comes in black, green, pink and stainless steel.  It is heat resistant up to 340°F and dishwasher safe. $15.00.


This beautiful mid-century inspired trivet is made from American black walnut. It is 6” in diameter and ½”h.

Another expandable trivet is made from silicone. Fully open it’s 8.5” x 1.5” and is a fun shape.  It can handle up to 465°F and is dishwasher safe. $5.99.


These laser cut trivets are made from 100% merino felt.  They are ideal under a bowl of fruit or flowers a well as putting a barrier between your table and a hot dish.  Make sure the dish isn’t too hot, however as they are fabric.  There are 27 designs to choose from and many colors.  Each design is $32.00.

This solid brass trivet is made in Sweden and inspired by a 20th century Art Deco design. It has a polished surface and a natural underside. It is 6.5” x 9.5” and $95.00.


This is a handmade 100% cotton fabric coiled trivet. It is multi-color, and there are other color variations to choose from. It is 12” in diameter and could double for a placemat. $25.00.
