The Catrinka Project began with a desire to help girls around the world living in poverty. When the founders learned about 10×10, a global social media campaign to help girls escape from poverty through education, they decided to partner with them on this project.
The Project designs and produces bags – one bag style per country – that are sold online. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to educate girls in the countries where the bags are made. Socially responsible artisan groups that are women-owned, women-managed or that predominantly employ women make the bags. The Catrinka Project employs women struggling in poverty and invests part of their proceeds in providing education for their daughters. It’s win/win!
